An Introduction

So the purpose of this blog is to document my process through the tedious field of SEO and internet marketing. I have found that the information has become overwhelming and I no longer know if my days are being spent in the best way. But hopefully this will give a better perspective of what it takes to start off and possibly what it takes to succeed. Every day that I spend I will be sharing my adventure with all of you and if you would like to make suggestions or insults, hey - lay it on me. Hehe.

So far I have started up two websites on GoDaddy that are running WordPress. I really must say that I love WordPress. I've been building sites with Dreamweaver for ages and it is such a relief to have everything put together so quickly and with such asthetic quality.

Anyway, I have these two websites. One of these websites is being used to promote someone and the other is hopefully going to be a successful niche site. I just got the niche site up and running yesterday, installed my AdSense ads and ClickBank ads, and submitted it to every possible social networking site using a nifty little submitting tool. I also wrote two articles and linked them to the site to drive in some more traffic. So it is day two and the traffic is coming in - slowly by surely. I even got my first click.

I also created a sitemap, uploaded it to the server, and pinged Google. I'm hoping that will help with getting the site indexed. Of course, the site is listed as number four for my main keyword focus on MSN search and I'm already getting a little traffic from MSN. These things take time, I know. Today I am registering with some forums within my niche to promote a bit.

I write articles also and I was happy to see that submitting them to all of the social networks like Digg and Twitter is really effective in getting traffic. I submitted two of my articles last night and got more hits in one day than all of my articles which have been up for a lot longer.

So, this is the introduction into a very time consuming project of mine that will last in it's capacity until I start class again for the summer (June 1). I'll likely keep at it past then, but probably not so aggressively. Our community college offers many classes online and I am taking all online classes for the summer... so it will work out well.

I'll update later as this whole thing unfolds.
